据悉,美国WWE职业摔跤联盟 World Wrestling Entertainment,以下简称WWE) 正在与弗莱克公司(Forrec)合作兴建一个以WWE为主题的全新游乐园。

 

弗莱克公司是一家国际设计公司,并于最近发布了WWE主题乐园景点的概念设计图。 WWE可能会向其他主题公园授权建造WWE主题景点,抑或直接建造自己的主题乐园,而这两个方案最终都很可能使人们期待已久的WWE名人堂实物景点成为现实。

游乐园的初步选址是位于美国佛罗里达州的中部城市奥兰多(Orlando)。在2017年,WWE四大赛事之一的摔跤狂热(WrestleMania)也将于这座城市举办,奥兰多最有可能成为该主题乐园的最终选址地,但同时也要面对来自迪士尼乐园的竞争。据资料显示,奥兰多在2016年共迎接了6,800万游客。同时国内和国外游客的到访量也很高,间接帮助奥兰多国际机场创造了310亿美元(约2,118亿人民币)的营业额。

 

根据国际游乐园及景点协会(IAAPA)的统计,主题乐园的顾客群体中占比最大的是携带年龄为二至十八岁子女的家庭群体。自2000年以来,WWE的动态观赛人数一直呈下降态势,但是年轻人口占观赛总人数的比例却翻了一番,而建造一个像这样可以带来年轻游客的主题乐园,将很有可能成为解决观赛人数下降问题的最佳方案之一。

如果WWE要继续推进建设该主题乐园,将会积极寻求潜在的合作伙伴。就像任天堂环球影城的合作一样,娱乐巨头花费4.34亿美元(约29.6亿人民币)来开发和建造游乐设施和景点。即使WWE计划开设一个较小规模的小型乐园,未来作为更大的主题公园的一部分,类似于“哈利波特巫师世界”那样,预计花费也不会少于2亿美元(约13.6亿人民币)。

WWE's Theme Park Plans Offer A Jubilant Look Into A Volatile Future


On a recent episode of his Wooooo!Nation podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair recalled a conversation he had with Vince McMahon, where the WWE Chairman noted that his only competition was Disney.

And while that's quite the ambitious rival for a promotion battling serious concerns in viewership and demographics, WWE seems poised to take a step forward in possibly competing with Disney's greatest attraction. But with tumultuous viewership numbers that fall every year, and a fledgling over-the-top network that is soldiering on at a satisfactory pace, a WWE-themed amusement park just might be too ambitious.

 

Forrec,an international design company, has released concept art behind a potential WWE theme park attraction. WWE could potentially license attractions to other theme parks or create one of its own in a move that may finally lead to the construction of the long-awaited physical WWE Halll of Fame.


Orlando, Florida, site of WrestleMania 33 this past year, seems to be the most likely destination given its affinity for tourism and attractions. Orlando brought in 68 million visitors in 2016. The high traffic of both domestic and international tourists helped the Orlando International Airport generate $31 billion.

 

Outside ventures, like a theme park that would bring in adolescent vacationers, could be part of the solution of appealing to a younger demographic as WWE's median demographic has doubled since 2000.

 

According to the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), the average guest demographic of theme parks are families with children from two to 18 years of age.

 

If WWE is to move forward in creating a full-scale theme park, it will behoove the promotion to seek a potential partner, similar to Nintendo's partnership with Universal Studios that will see the entertainment titans spend $434 million to develop and create rides and attractions.

Even if WWE plans on opening a smaller-scale attraction as part of a larger theme park, similar to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, it should anticipate spending upwards of $200 million. 

 

WWE doesn't have the greatest track record when it comes to outside ventures. Side projects such as The World, WWE's New York Restaurant, and of course the XFL quickly fizzled out in the early 2000's.
